As AI summaries appear in more search results, some users are looking for search engines that still show traditional organic listings.
AI-generated answers are starting to appear in more and more search results across major search engines. Google’s AI Overviews, for example, often display a summarized answer at the top of the page before the traditional list of links. Some users like the quick responses, but others still prefer the classic search experience where results are simply a list of websites.
Because of this, interest in alternative search engines seems to be slowly increasing. Several platforms still focus primarily on traditional search results and do not force AI summaries at the top of the page.
DuckDuckGo is one of the most well known alternatives and continues to present results mostly as a standard list of links. Brave Search has also gained attention in recent years and runs its own independent index without aggressively pushing AI summaries in the interface.
Other search engines follow a similar approach. Startpage focuses on privacy while still delivering Google-based results. Mojeek operates its own crawler and index as an independent search engine. Kagi offers a paid search experience designed around high quality results and minimal advertising.
In other words, search engines such as DuckDuckGo, Brave Search, Startpage, Mojeek and Kagi still prioritize the traditional search layout where users primarily see links to websites instead of AI-generated answers.
As AI summaries expand across the web, it will be interesting to see whether more users start experimenting with these alternative search engines.
