Google documentation suggests ads may not appear inside AI Overviews for certain sensitive verticals such as adult or gambling, potentially changing how some search results pages look.
Some SEOs have started pointing out an interesting detail in Google Ads documentation related to AI Overviews.
The documentation explains that ads may not appear in AI Overviews for certain sensitive verticals, including categories such as adult content, gambling, alcohol, finance, healthcare and politics.

During some quick tests on Google search results in India we noticed behavior that appears consistent with that documentation. In some cases an AI Overview was displayed at the top of the page while ads appeared to be restricted for the query being tested.
Below is an example screenshot captured from Google search results in India showing an AI-generated answer appearing above the organic results.
If this behavior holds more broadly, it could slightly change how the search results page looks for certain queries. Instead of a mix of ads and organic results around the AI-generated answer, users may simply see the AI summary followed by the standard search listings.
Of course this is still early and AI search features continue to evolve quickly. But it is another small example of how AI-generated results may behave differently from traditional search layouts.
It will be interesting to see how consistently this appears as more people test AI Overviews across different queries and markets.
