For most of its life, Search Console has been about websites: pages, queries, impressions and clicks.

That's no longer entirely true.

Google's new Platform properties let creators track how content published on Instagram, TikTok, X and YouTube performs across Google Search, Discover and Google News. The feature rolled out globally in July, and Google has now published more detailed guidance on how to use the data.

The interesting part isn't simply having another report.

Creators can see which query groups are sending Google traffic to social content, identify posts suddenly gaining search visibility, compare different platforms and even use the data to decide which older content deserves another push.

That makes the line between SEO and social distribution increasingly blurry. A TikTok video or X post isn't necessarily just social content anymore. It can also become a searchable asset with measurable Google demand behind it.

For publishers, that's worth paying attention to. Search visibility is becoming less about where content lives and more about whether Google can discover and surface it.
