Google is expanding Search Central Live deeper into Latin America, with a first-ever stop in Colombia and a return to Mexico City scheduled for October.

In an official Search Central announcement published September 8, Google confirmed that Search Central Live will take place in Mexico City on October 15 and Bogotá on October 19. The Bogotá edition will be the first Search Central Live event held in Colombia.

Both events will bring Google representatives together with SEOs, publishers, creators, digital marketers and site owners for sessions covering Google Search, Discover, News and related topics. Registration is free and remains open until September 16, although capacity is limited and submitting a registration does not guarantee admission.

The two-city schedule also reinforces Google’s growing effort to bring its Search education and publisher outreach directly to Latin American markets rather than concentrating those conversations in the United States or Europe.

Mexico City returns on October 15

Search Central Live will return to Mexico City on October 15, with the event scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Google says it has listened to feedback from previous editions in Mexico and is returning as part of a broader effort to meet more members of the Search community across Latin America.

The company has previously organized Search Central Live events in Mexico as well as Argentina and Brazil. The new announcement places Mexico City alongside Bogotá in a two-event October run that expands that regional footprint.

Registrations for Mexico City close September 16. Google plans to send confirmations on September 21, including the address and additional logistical details for attendees who receive places.

Bogotá gets its first Search Central Live on October 19

The more notable expansion is Colombia.

Google says Search Central Live will arrive in Bogotá for the first time on October 19. The event is scheduled from 2:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

As in Mexico, registration remains open through September 16, with confirmations expected September 21.

For Colombia’s SEO and publishing community, the event creates a rare opportunity to hear directly from Google teams in a local setting rather than relying only on global documentation, recorded conferences or English-language announcements.

Google is explicitly inviting a broad audience rather than limiting the event to technical SEO specialists. Publishers, creators, digital marketers and website owners are all included in the company’s invitation.

The agenda goes beyond conventional Google Search

The announced subject mix is significant because Search Central Live is no longer only about traditional web search optimization.

Google says the presentations will cover Google Search, Google Discover, News and more.

That combination reflects how fragmented publisher visibility has become inside Google’s ecosystem. A news organization can receive traffic from conventional Search, Google News surfaces and Discover, with each environment presenting different user behaviors and optimization questions.

For creators and publishers, understanding those surfaces together can be more useful than treating SEO as a single list of blue-link ranking tactics.

Discover remains particularly important for publishers

Google Discover is an unusual traffic source because users do not necessarily type a query before seeing content.

Instead, Google surfaces content it believes may be relevant to a user’s interests. That makes Discover structurally different from query-driven Search and gives publishers a different visibility opportunity.

Google’s inclusion of Discover in the event agenda is therefore relevant to newsrooms, content publishers and creators whose traffic strategies increasingly extend beyond conventional keyword demand.

It should not, however, be interpreted as evidence that Google plans to announce a Discover algorithm update at these events. The September 8 post describes the event topics but does not disclose new ranking systems or product changes.

Google News adds another publisher-specific layer

The inclusion of Google News similarly broadens the audience beyond traditional SEO teams.

News publishers operate under additional requirements involving freshness, transparency, publication identity and journalistic content. Search visibility and News visibility overlap, but they are not identical distribution systems.

Bringing Search, Discover and News into the same live event can help publishers understand how Google sees those surfaces as parts of a larger information ecosystem.

That is particularly relevant in Latin America, where publishers often serve large mobile audiences and must compete for attention across Search, social platforms, recommendation feeds and AI-driven interfaces simultaneously.

Some presentations will be in English, with Spanish translation

Google says some sessions will be delivered in English, but Spanish translation will be available.

That detail makes the events more accessible to local attendees while still allowing speakers from Google’s international Search teams to participate.

The official announcement was published by Martin Splitt of Google Search Relations and Alejandra Brambila of Google News Partnerships Mexico, a combination that itself reflects the Search-and-publisher focus of the program.

Free registration does not mean unlimited attendance

Google describes both events as free, but capacity is limited.

Interested attendees need to request an invitation by September 16. Google says confirmations will be sent September 21, along with the event address and other details.

That means registration should be understood as an application for a free place rather than an automatically confirmed ticket.

For professionals planning travel between cities or countries, waiting for Google’s confirmation before making non-refundable arrangements would be the cautious approach.

The Latin American Search community is getting more direct access to Google

Search Central Live has value beyond the individual presentations because it creates a direct communication channel between Google and the people whose businesses depend on Search visibility.

Documentation can explain technical requirements, but live events allow SEOs and publishers to hear how Google frames current challenges, ask questions and compare experiences with other practitioners operating in the same market.

Regional context matters. Search behavior, publisher economics, language, ecommerce maturity and platform usage can differ substantially between Latin America, North America and Europe.

Google’s decision to return to Mexico and debut in Colombia suggests the company sees value in continuing those conversations locally.

The Bogotá debut is the bigger signal

Mexico City’s return confirms an existing relationship with the local Search community. Bogotá represents geographic expansion.

Google explicitly describes the October 19 event as the first Search Central Live in Colombia and connects it with previous events in Mexico, Argentina and Brazil.

That creates a clearer Latin American circuit for Search Central’s in-person outreach.

It does not necessarily mean Colombia is receiving unique Search products or ranking treatment. The significance is educational and community-based: Google is bringing its Search, Discover and News teams closer to another major regional market.

What attendees should not assume from the announcement

The September 8 post is an event announcement, not an algorithm announcement.

Google has not promised a new core ranking system, Discover update, News feature or Search Console release for either October event. Nor has it published the complete content of every presentation in the announcement itself.

That distinction is worth preserving because SEO event agendas often generate speculation before speakers take the stage.

The confirmed information is already useful: Google plans live sessions around Search, Discover and News, Mexico City returns October 15, Bogotá debuts October 19, and applications close September 16.

Search Central Live is becoming a broader visibility event

The most interesting aspect of the agenda may be how naturally Search, Discover and News now sit beside each other.

For publishers and marketers, visibility is increasingly distributed across multiple Google experiences. A technically sound page may appear in Search, a timely article may surface in Discover, and a newsroom may depend on News-specific discovery in addition to ordinary organic traffic.

The skill set required to manage that ecosystem is broader than classic keyword-and-ranking SEO.

Search Central Live gives Google an opportunity to explain those surfaces together and gives Latin American practitioners an opportunity to challenge, clarify and contextualize that guidance face to face.

On October 15, that conversation returns to Mexico City. Four days later, it reaches Bogotá for the first time.

For anyone hoping to attend, the more immediate date is September 16: that is when free registration closes for both events.
